Dr. Durakis joins The Healing Tree with 18 years of experience in private practice and has extensive experience lecturing and writing on the subject of wellness and chiropractic care. She began her practice in 1994 on Prince Street at The Durakis Chiropractic Center of Old Town.

Extended study in the areas of sports rehabilitation, clinical nutrition, exercise physiology, prenatal care, pediatrics, functional endocrinology and veterinary orthopedic manipulation has allowed Dr. Durakis to provide a comprehensive approach to healing. Dr. Durakis has specific expertise with regard to the diagnosis and natural treatment of menopausal symptoms and hormonal imbalance.

As a lifelong sports enthusiast, weekend warrior and mother of two athletic daughters, her practice has also grown in the direction of sports injury prevention and rehabilitation.

Dr. Durakis holds a BA degree from Colgate University and a DC (doctor or Chiropractic) from Life University. Prior to beginning her private practice she served as the Professional Affairs Director for the International Chiropractic Association. She served on the Alexandria City Public School (ACPS) Wellness Task Force 2006-2008, was chairperson for the Alexandria Professional Women's Network and has been a frequent contributor to the Old Town Crier.

Dr. Cindy Durakis has coached ASA soccer and Alexandria Youth volleyball for three years and has earned a 2nd degree black belt in taekwondo.
